Just after a few members left the station to go pick up lunch for everybody else, PSC received a call from Company 44 reporting a house fire at Chillum Manor Rd and Knollbrook Dr. PSC dropped the box and dispatched Tower 7 as the second due truck. Tower 7 responded with 6 personnel and was the 4th arriving piece on the scene. The crew went to work venting and clearing the windows, opening up the interior, and searching as they went. After a few minutes on the scene the incoming power lines that were arching and burning, on side Bravo, fell in the front yard. Command pulled the first engine and truck out and the crew from Tower 7 went back to the second floor to open up the second floor and man a hose line in the attic. With the fire being gas fed on side Charlie, the crew from Tower 7 would not extinguish the fire but rather keep it in check while opening the second floor. After working inside for about 40 minutes the crew from Tower 7 was removed and sent to rehab. As units waited for Washington Gas to arrive on the scene to cut the gas, Command scaled back the assignment and released Tower 7.

On a side note, while working in the fire room opening up Michael “Lightning” McClary found a hot wire and got a small shock. He was sent to the EMS group to be checked out and was transported to MedStar for being electrocuted. He was held over night for observation and is doing well.
