On Monday July 25th with most people staying inside because of the heat, things were quiet around the station. That was until PSC received calls at 0308hrs reporting a house on fire at 5508 43rd Pl in Hyattsville. Engine 73, with 3, responded as the second due engine and Tower 7, with 4, responded as the first due truck. Engine company 1 advised they would have their own hydrant and Engine 73 laid a line to side Alpha of the house. The crew from the engine advanced their line into the front of the house. Tower 7 arrived on the scene, and with a report of people trapped on the second floor proceeded to division 2 to start their primary search while the driver and OSV man laddered the house. Ambulance 77 was dispatched on the working fire dispatch and set up the aid/rehab station on side Alpha.

With the temperature being in the 90's at that time of the morning Command called for the second alarm for man power as a precaution. Units worked on the scene for over 3 hours before returning to the station for shift change with the day shift.
