With Hurricane Irene making her way out of the state of Prince George's County, the crews at Riverdale thought they might be able to get a little sleep. But then at 0834hrs PSC dispatched units in the fourth battalion to 5612 30th Ave in Hyattsville for the reported house on fire. Engine 72, as fourth due engine, Tower 7, as second due truck, and Chief 7B responded with 12 personnel. Company 1 arrived on the scene with fire showing from a single story single family home. Tower 7 arrived on the scene and went to work laddering the house and cutting the roof, per command. Engine 72 arrived on the scene and picked up engine 44's hydrant and advanced a back up line off engine 1. Chief 7B arrived on the scene and was assigned the interior division. With quick work being made of the fire, command scaled back the assignment to company 1 and Tower 7. Engine 72 went in service shortly later and Tower 7 cleared the scene just before 1000hrs.
