During the 87th Annual Convention of the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association held in Accokeek, Maryland, Riverdale Fire Department's President, Stephen Lamphier was elected to the position of Director for the Association.  His duties will be to coordinate the companies in District 2 (Hyattsville-801, Cottage City/MountRainier/Brentwood [Bunker Hill-855], Riverdale-807, and College Park-812) in regrds to mandatory reports, resolving issues, and being a liason to the Association for these companies.

With his track record of successfully coordinating and diligently working under stressful circumstances with the Ambulance Billing issue facing the volunteers compaines in the county, it was only natural that his name be placed in nomination.  The department would like to express our sincere gratitude to the outgoing Director for our district, William Tavell, and thank him for his services and assitance provided to the department and the Association.

With recent changes in the management of the PGF/EMSD, the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire Commission, and the PGCVFRA, the volunteers throughout the county have a voice once again, and that voice is being heard and considered, something that has been missing for several years.  We strongly believe that with cooperative efforts and all parties engaing in meaningful dialog that great things can happen in the county and the PGF/EMSD can once again be recognized as the model combination system in the nation.

Congratulations Steve!!  The department wishes you well and much success on this, your next endeavor into the management of the volunteer system.
