Department Hosts Informal Gathering with Acting County Fire Chief Print

The officers and members of the Riverdale Fire Department hosted a "meet and greet" dinner Monday evening with Acting County Fire Chief Marc Bashoor.  Chief Bashoor has been traveling throughout the county to meet with individual stations to not only introduce himself to those under his command, but to gather input on items the average firefighter or EMS provider in the county feel need addressing.

Before sitting down to a "surf and turf" meal, an informal gathering was held in the engine bay.  Chief Bashoor directly asked members (from the newest to the most veteran) to complete the following sentence, "If I were the Fire Chief, I would..."  Allowing for everyone's insight and opinion, the Chief listened intently and provided feedback, but for obvious (fiscal, administrative and other) reasons could not offer any promises.

This open dialog between the "men and women in the trenches" and those with command is wholeheartedly welcome.  The officers and members of the Riverdale Fire Department believe that only through open and honest (and at times unpopular) discussion, can progress be obtained.

We look forward to working closely with Chief Bashoor during his tenue as Acting Fire Chief.
